To get a proper sense of our beliefs, it’s helpful to work backwards through our name:
First and foremost, we are followers of Jesus Christ. We are sinners who believe that in Jesus Christ, God lived the perfect life we failed to live. We believe he then died the atoning death for sin, which we deserved. We believe Jesus then rose from the dead three days later breaking the curse of sin and death. Jesus now leads all who trust in him back into right standing with God as we embrace the forgiveness of sins and newness of life only found in him. We are part of the family God has been building throughout the ages made up of men, women, and children from every language and race that follow after Jesus Christ – this family is called the church.
This worldwide family of Christ followers does, though, take different shapes depending on the context, and, because we are all sinners, we have never agreed on every specific detail of the faith! The hope is for the Christian church to be united on primary things, but unfortunately we do differ on secondary things, and this leads to the many different denominations or parts of the family. LOPC affiliates with the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). You can learn more about the theological specifics of the PCA by visiting www.pcanet.org Know, however, that we are followers of Jesus Christ before we are Presbyterians – and any who love Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, or any who are curious as to who this Jesus is, are welcome at LOPC.
The family of God as seen in the followers of Jesus Christ exists at all times and in all places, and we are but just one expression of this family, here locally in Lake Worth, Florida, in our specific spot on the beautiful shores of Lake Osborne. We exist to be a blessing to this specific community and to be a place where the good news of Jesus Christ is found.
