Fasting is the discipline of going without food for a specific period of time for growth in godliness. Fasting can be practiced as an expression of sorrow for sin, seeking God, and/or an expression of our need for God to act in our lives. The resources on this page are meant to help us grow in our understanding of this practice as well as to help us to perform it.
In August of 2014 Pastor Omar preached a sermon on fasting as a part of a series on prayer. In that sermon he addressed how Jesus expected his disciples to fast, the motivation for fasting, and the reward that comes when we fast. You can listen to his sermon here.
After the sermon Pastor Omar wrote a brief article addressing one face of prayer and fasting that was cut from the sermon. You can read his message on three responses to prayer and fasting here.
